Dave is also a talented improvisor, making regular guest appearances with one of the longest running and highly acclaimed comedy improvisation teams, The Comedy Store Players. He has appeared in their twice weekly shows in London’s West End on many occasions.Dave has appeared on the West End stage in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, alongside Christian Slater and performed in numerous plays at the Edinburgh Fringe.2016 saw Dave play the lead role in Ken Loach’s critically acclaimed and multi award winning film “I, Daniel Blake” which won the much coveted Palme D’or at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.The film was also the winner of the BAFTA for the Most Outstanding British Film.In the role of Daniel, Dave received glowing reviews and numerous award nominations:-The British Independent Film Awards, Best Actor – Winner.Dublin Film Critics Award 2016, Best Actor – Winner.Empire Magazine Film Awards, Best Male Newcomer – Winner.The Seattle Film Festival Best Actor – Winner.The British Independent Film Awards, Most Promising Newcomer – Nominee;The Evening Standard Film Awards, Best Actor – Nominee;The European Academy Film Awards, Best European Actor – Nominee.The UK Film Critics British/Irish Film Actor of the Year Award – Nominee.Dave also made it on to the American industry’s entertainment bible, Variety Magazine’s long list for an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
